Lucky Count pokies take the Dracula legend and play it for laughs. The Count is more cartoon than nightmare, the castle looms in the background, and bats, wolves and goblets fill the reels. It is a 25-line Aristocrat game with two different wild symbols and a castle scatter that unlocks the free games.
It is not as famous as Queen of the Nile or More Chilli, but it has a loyal following, especially around Halloween. Here is what we could confirm about how it plays.
How Lucky Count pokies play
Lucky Count uses five reels, three rows and up to 25 paylines, which you can usually set to 1, 5, 10, 15 or 25. Wins pay left to right, and the scatter pays anywhere.
There are two wilds: the Count himself and a Bat. Both substitute for regular symbols. Reviews agree that one of them adds a multiplier to the wins it helps make, but they disagree on which one and on the exact figure, and some describe a repeat-pay effect when the Count lands. Since we cannot pin this down reliably, check the help screens on the version you play.
The free games feature
- Land three or more castle scatters to trigger the free games.
- More scatters means more free games. Some sources quote up to 40, but figures vary by version.
- The feature can be retriggered.
- Wilds are where the bigger feature wins come from, thanks to their multiplier and repeat-pay effects.
Symbols and pays
- The Count: wild, and the star of the show.
- Bat: second wild.
- Castle: scatter, triggers free games.
- Theme symbols: the wolf, rose, goblet, door knocker and candlestick.
- Card values: the lower pays.
History and trivia

What to expect when you play
Lucky Count plays like a typical mid-range 25-line Aristocrat game: plenty of small base game wins, with the wilds and the free games doing the heavy lifting. Return to player is set by the venue within state limits. Pick a budget and stick to it. If it stops being fun, see our play-safely page.
